The story:

The idea for this piece came while I was contemplating current situation in Europe. I do that sometimes you know, worry about the world. I was told all artists do, so I guess it's nothing special. I do it quite often actually, and in most cases my thoughts and convictions find their way into my art. That is precisely what happened with this piece of pottery with a sunken center. I felt its calling to expression, its voice whispering about Europe and its sinking  under waves of immigrants, unemployment and most of all  -  lack of identity . Just like this plate was laying around before I took it into my hands, it is obvious that today Europe faces the question of  purpose, role, ideology.  If it is to survive all that is happening, the peoples of EU must find the way to unite truly, not on paper or for money, but in their hearts, regardless of language, religion or color. If its sunken center is to be a plate for food and prosperity, EU should be encircled by six-pointed stars. Because just like the stars on the blue skies, the Jewish communities scattered around EU can light the way to unity, connecting people across differences, showing the way out of darkness.
